The Democratic National Convention is kicking off in Chicago with tens of thousands of people expected to attend - including a slew of big-name speakers. The US president will address crowds later, while Kamala Harris has made a surprise appearance to thank him for his service.

"Donald Trump is a scab" - that's the message from the president of the United Auto Workers as he delivers his speech at the DNC.
He says his invite to speak at the DNC was"too important" to pass up given the"magnitude" of the presidential election. "Le us fight for the ideas we hold dear and let us always remember when we fight, we win," she adds. "Thank you. Shout out to my Alabama delegation, you know I love you all," he says before leaving the stage.
