Colorado will see a slow warming trend heading into the weekend with sunshine and potential record highs in the triple digits from Friday through Sunday.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says they made the decision last night to activate the cooling centers during the heat wave this weekend. DENVER — The City of Denver will be opening up cooling shelters as heat advisories go into effect starting Friday. Friday, the Denver area will stay dry as triple digit heat arrives in Colorado for the weekend. Excessive Heat Advisories have been issued for the Denver, Pueblo and Grand Junction areas on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures can range between 98 and 103 degrees.will offer space in each of its rec centers that the public can access during normal business hours to cool off. In addition, 2601 W. 7th Ave. will be available on Sunday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

West View Recreation Center: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. SundayThe MAC: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday; closed Saturday & SundayIrving Street Library: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday & SundayDue to forecast extreme heat, Fort Collins declared a major heat risk event for Saturday. Indoor day shelter will be available at the Murphy Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday & Sunday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
