Preston is the top place in the UK where locals struggle to manage their stress, with Blackburn second and Burnley fourth
An area of Lancashire has been named as the most stressed-out place in the UK - with two other local towns named in the top five.
Unemployment in the city is at 4%, figures for last September show, above the national average of 3.9% for 2023. Meanwhile 28% of respondents reported high levels of anxiety, according to the English deprivation index.Preston has also consistently ranked in the top 20% 'most deprived' areas in the UK since 2000, the data showed. Blackburn came in at number two with 1,979 searches per 100,000 residents – equivalent to 65 searches a day.
Burnley came in fourth, ahead of third placed Liverpool, with a monthly average of 1,864 searches for stress and anxiety-related searches. It was ranked 11th out of 317 authorities in England for most deprived in the 2019 index of multiple deprivation.
