Deputy Raleigh Dueitt's left leg was amputated after a traumatic injury. He shares his gratitude for being alive and discusses the incident that led to his injury.

Almost two weeks ago Deputy Raleigh Dueitt’s life changed forever. His injuries were so traumatic, it resulted in his left leg being amputated. He’s certainly in good spirits and he has a long recovery ahead. “Moral of the story is that I should not be here. God is the only reason that I’m here,” Deputy Dueitt said. “The only reason that I’m here and that I can talk...is God. Deputy Dueitt is a narcotics agent with GSCO . He says he’s been with the department on and off for the last eight years.

He says on February 1, it started like every other day but took a turn when several deputies received a call to perform a welfare check on a missing elderly man. “I was free at the time. So I keyed up on my mic, told dispatch I would head that way. See if I could find out what was going on,” Deputy Dueitt explained. “And we just planned we’re gonna pull up and see if we can make contact with the grandpa since it’s supposed to be his residence.” Deputy Dueitt says it wasn’t the grandfather they made contact with when they arrived, instead, it was his grandso
