Killie - reduced to ten men early on at Rugby Park - were demolished by St Johnstone in Ayrshire
Killie were demolished by St Johnstone at Rugby Park and for a side who were so solid defensively last season, they have alarmingly shipped seven league goals in just two games this term. Their task was made Herculean after defender Joe Wright was sent off for two bookings after just 16 minutes and was also at fault for the opener. In fact, all of Killie’s backline looked off it and boss McInnes accepted it wasn’t their finest of days.
“And when Joe gets sent off, it’s the last thing we needed on a hot day like today with ten men, with the schedule and all the rest of it. The second goal had nothing to do with being down to ten men, that’s just poor defending. And my players have had a lot of credit for their defending. However, the Rugby Park gaffer wasn’t impressed with ref Chris Graham’s performance, especially after he denied Killie a penalty which could have cut the deficit to one goal when Danny Armstrong was booked for diving after a tussle with Andre Raymond.
