Derrion Reid, an incoming freshman for Alabama men’s basketball, has made the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team roster
. The USA Men’s Junior National Team Committee made the announcement Tuesday following a four-day training camp in Colorado Springs. Reid will be one of 12 players to represent the United States in the 2024 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup from June 3 to June 9.
The 6-foot-8 forward now becomes the second Crimson Tide to earn a spot on the U.S. U18 National Team, following JaMychal Green’s inclusion in 2008. Reid is a consensus 5-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American. ESPN ranks Reid as the No. 11 overall recruit, positioning him as the fourth-highest rated recruit in program history. Only Collin Sexton, Brandon Miller, and JD Davison were ranked higher.
In the upcoming FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup, Team USA will compete in Group B against Argentina, Belize, and Brazil. Team USA tips off versus Argentina on June 3 at 6:10 p.m..
