Daire Ó Baoill and Ryan McHugh were outstanding for Donegal while Ethan Doherty was the clear pick of the Derry players on an evening to forget for Mickey Harte’s men

Derry ratings Odhran Lynch: A day to forget for the Magherafelt native. Was stranded outfield for three of Donegal’s four goals and was sent the wrong way by Oisin Gallen’s penalty. Kickout were generally sound. 5.5

Conor Doherty: Landed one excellent point from play and put himself about plenty. Probably was as involved as he wanted in the second half. 6.5 Brendan Rogers: Had a fine battle with Ciaran Thompson. Was probably just edged out on the that score. Landed a point in each half. 6.5 Niall Loughlin: Something was clearly amiss with the Greenlough forward as he struggled to get involved and was replaced after 27 minutes. 5

Emmett Bradley: In for the final quarter and the Glen man won a few breaks but was unable to turn the tide. 6 Brendan McCole: Missed Donegal’s last four games, but was trusted by Jim McGuinness to come in and do a job on Shane McGuigan and he didn’t let his manager down. McGuigan’s two points from play came late in the game. 8

Ciaran Thompson: Wore number 32 as his jersey was ripped in the warm-up. Maybe that set the tone for Donegal’s performance and their midfield duo were excellent. 7.5
