The sprawling restaurant on Greenville Avenue was known for its bar snacks and margaritas.
The restaurant had been selling burgers, loaded tater tots and margaritas since late 2019. It was one of the more casual concepts in Dallas restaurateur Nick Badovinus’ portfolio, which also includes glitzy steakhouse Town Hearth, prime rib den Brass Ram, seafood spot Montlake Cut and American haunt Neighborhood Services.
“Well, it’s been a great run, but we have reached the finish line,” the Desert Racer website states. The company confirmed the closure withThe “finish line” reference plays to something regulars will likely miss: Desert Racer had vehicles parked in the restaurant and on the patio, as decor. The always-there Ducati looked “as if somebody’s hopped off to grab a Ranch Water and a plate of tacos,”wrote when the restaurant opened.
Desert Racer’s patio was a hot seat during beautiful weather, and most of the restaurant’s four-year life took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Desert Racer was surrounded by tall cinder-block walls that kept the traffic noises from Greenville Avenue out.in downtown Dallas. Surf Camp closes is closed during cooler temps and reopens March 27, 2024 for the spring season.
