Julia Lohmann, a designer known for her ethical and sustainable approach, explores the potential of seaweed as a material. Her work, which began with a critical examination of animal materials, has evolved to focus on re-establishing a connection with nature. Lohmann's 'The Department of Seaweed' platform researches and experiments with seaweed, highlighting its versatility and ecological benefits. She has also created installations like 'Oki Naganode' that showcase seaweed's potential as a sustainable alternative to leather.
