Sunak will say the UK “stands at a crossroads” and will even raise the prospect of going to war in the next five years as he tries to persuade voters not to dump him at the election later this year.The PM will say: “I have bold ideas that can change our society for the better, and restore people’s confidence and pride in our country.
He will add: “Our country stands at a crossroads. Over the next few years, from our democracy to our economy to our society – to the hardest questions of war and peace – almost every aspect of our lives is going to change. Sunak has already pledged to spend 2.5% of gross domestic product on defence by the end of the decade. Labour have said they will do the same, but only when the nation can afford it.
