North Lanarkshire Council’s planning committee approved an application from Anco Construction which proposed 49 homes including 39 flats at a site off Rosehall Road.

Developers have secured permission to proceed with the construction of a housing development in Shotts .

As the committee considered the application, Councillor Margaret Hughes asked if anything would be put in place to prevent the flats from overlooking the existing properties and also expressed concern over traffic as lorries involved in construction would be unable to travel along Rosehall Road due to height restrictions. Instead they would have to use the main road, passing a school, doctor’s surgery and care home.

Councillor Paul Kelly queried why a 2010 financial contribution of £16,000 towards building a play park, which was paid in relation to a previous grant of planning permission, was considered sufficient for this application when costs had increased significantly.
