, saying she agreed with Green MP Caroline Lucas who described Rosebank as the “greatest act of environmental vandalism in my lifetime”.
“That’s not in interests of those who work in oil and gas, they need that transition to happen at pace.” He said the blame for this lay with the UK Government for failing to prepare for the transition to net zero earlier, but that developing Rosebank would give existing workers “breathing space”. “You have to be pragmatic, it’s about an evidence-based analysis of the situation. There’s three priorities, and that’s to ensure energy security, to maintain jobs and to continue along the path to net zero.”
