Pauline Gilhooly cashed fraudulent cheques from her mum's bank account.
A devious daughter who swindled her mother out of her life savings hung her head in shame as she arrived at court to be sentenced for fraud. Pauline Gilhooly had been threatened with prison if she failed to come up with a plan to repay the £8,000 sh e stole from her dying mum’s bank account. Gilhooley, who flashed what appeared to be gold and diamond rings on both hands when she appeared in court , had been given two months to come up with a plan to reimburse the cash.
Gilhooly, a first offender, admitted committing the offence at the Holmes Gardens Care Home in Broxburn, West Lothian, over a 30-month period between 10 February 2013 and 24 July 2015. Livingston Sheriff court was told that she admitted that she had “formed a fraudulent scheme” to present the forged cheques at Santander Bank. She then induced the bank to transfer the funds from her mother’s account to one in her own name.
