After delays caused by cybersecurity concerns, the Queensland government is finally rolling out digital licences.
abc.net.au/news/queensland-digital-licence-trial-to-roll-out-in-townsville/102243284Queensland residents selected for a digital licence trial will be able to download their IDs next week.The Townsville trial follows a pilot of more than 800 people on the Fraser CoastDriver's licences, marine licences and photo identification cards will be accessible via a phone app designed by the Thales Group.
The first groups to access the app next week will be the Townsville Chamber of Commerce, the Townsville Liquor Accords and Palm Island representatives, as well as local, state and federal government agencies.The trial was delayed last year amid security concerns.Member for Mundingburra Les Walker said the remaining Townsville residents would be able to access their digital licences as their postcode is added to the trial.
