The furry convention, held annually in Glasgow , is expected to be attended by around 1,200 'furries' who dress up as anthropomorphic creatures.
Campaigners have urged a taxpayer funded wildcat conservation charity to end its partnership with a 'furry' event which sees people wear animal-themed fetish suits.
On Saturday afternoon, a 'Meet the Charity' event is scheduled for furries to meet Saving Wildcats representatives who will host a presentation on their work. The furry convention, held annually in Glasgow , is expected to be attended by around 1,200 'furries' who dress up as anthropomorphic creatures
Scotiacon organisers have warned furries attending the convention, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, not to display artwork depicting 'paedophilia' or 'cub porn'. 'Parents should be aware that while this convention may seem like harmless fun, it is anything but. The fact that the organisers felt the need to warn attendees about 'cub porn' and bestiality tells you all you need to know.'
Saving Wildcats, which also partners with SNP agencies Cairngorms National Park and Forestry and Land Scotland, were set to have a stand at the convention stationed next to stands run by an author of pornographic furry novels and an artist who produces sexually explicit furry images. The furry subculture began to emerge in the 1970s, alongside a growing interest in science fiction, anime, and role-playing. The first furry convention took place in 1989 but furries started gathering at cartoon and fantasy conventions in 1977.
