Xbox is getting Discord voice chat!
, you will soon be able to connect and chat with any of your Discord friends across Xbox, mobile, and PC directly from your Xbox console. This should make communication between you and your pals on other platforms much easier when it comes to cross-platform play."Discord Voice on Xbox consoles allows you to talk with your friends and community while you play your favourite games," Microsoft's Eric Voreis says.
Similar to how Discord works on mobile and PC, while you're playing on your console, you will be able to see who is in your call and will be able to identify who is speaking. You'll also be able to adjust the sound and switch between Xbox game chat and Discord voice. For Xbox Insiders who wish to try out the new feature today, you will need to link your Discord account to your Xbox, by pressing the Xbox button on your console and opening the guide, selecting Parties & chats, and then clicking Try Discord Voice on Xbox. You will then be given an option to scan a QR code which will take you to the Discord and Xbox apps to connect your accounts. If you've already linked your accounts, you will need to relink them.
Discord voice chat is currently rolling out to select Xbox Insiders and will"expand to more in the coming weeks" before being made available for all users. Are you pleased to see Xbox finally adding support for Discord voice chat? Let us know down in the comments.
