Olivia Graham has investigated the theft of a Leonardo Da Vinci painting
A woman is taking aim at the “disgusting” way her late father was treated after he was accused of holding a £4.25 million Leonardo Da Vinci painting to ransom.
Robbie and his friend Jack Doyle ran their own private investigation firm, Crown Private Investigations. Sensing an opportunity to do something truly historic and collect a big reward, Robbie and Jackie assembled a crack team to help get the painting back. Olivia’s anger at how her dad was treated and portrayed have stayed with her throughout her life. She said: “I was on the receiving end…of what was reported in the media, being relayed back to me on nights out by people I barely even knew.”
Olivia said: “They were able to interview him and he was in the pre-trial. And he said he had a pretty different perception of me dad, and of what happened, compared to what was reported on in the mainstream media, which was at the time all the BBC development team had access to. Olivia said: “Something is inevitably cathartic if it makes you cry a lot, and I've definitely cried a lot during the process.” Olivia initially dismissed messages from the BBC team about resources for support.
She said her dad “always wanted to make something” of the story, but passed away before he could do it. Due to this and her distrust of the mainstream media, she kept it as an exclusive tale for pub anecdotes, but often found the story was so complex it was hard for mates and strangers alike to fully grasp it.
Recalling an anecdote her sister told her, she said: “My dad felt like he had this connection with Leonardo, and then maybe if they had been around at the same time they would be mates.
