Disney+ coming November with $12.99 bundle that includes ESPN and Hulu
It works out at the same price as a standard Netflix plan – and will be packed with top films from popular franchises like Marvel and Star Wars.Disney+ was first announced last fall, pitched as a "family-friendly service" with no R-rated movies or TV shows. The base subscription will cost viewers $6.99 a month.Disney fans will be able to enjoy Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars content through Disney+But there's also a pricier $12.99 package planned.
The pricing is important, but it matches Netflix's offer – and is seen as a major attack on the Disney rival. Experts have told The Sun that it's likely some Netflix subscribers will switch away to Disney, to avoid paying too much money each month. "The move throws down the gauntlet to Netflix and other rival services," said analyst Paolo Pescatore, of PP Foresight, speaking to The Sun."Initially, it seems that Disney is looking for scale but will need to increase revenue to recoup the significant investment.
The entertainment brand says the focus will be on "quality over quantity", so don't expect its streaming library to match Netflix in terms of size .
