The order was put in place for eight hours over the Bank Holiday weekend
A dispersal order was put in place for Skegness after Lincolnshire Police received reports of vehicles being driven anti-socially in and around the seaside town. The order was granted on Sunday, August 25 and was in place for eight hours from 9.20pm.
During this time two Traffic Offence Reports were issued and one motorist received a prohibition notice. The dispersal order can be put in effect by the force under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and as part of this officers have the power to exclude a person from an area if the required criteria is met.
A statement from Skegness Police was posted on its Facebook page on Monday, August 26. It stated: "Some people may regard anti-social vehicle use such as doing donuts in car parks, as harmless fun, but regular anti-social vehicle use can have a wider impact on a neighbourhood or community. "Drivers and riders risk injuring themselves, other road users or even pedestrians as they do not have proper control of their vehicles and performing stunts or tricks like donuts can also cause noise nuisance that affect the area. Cars fitted with illegal modifications can also be unsafe for the driver and others around them."
