They’ve been here for four days and the Distinguished Young Women are taking the Port City by storm. We caught up with them as they were touring the USS Alabama for some BBQ and line dancing.
) - Representing all 50 states -- the Distinguished Young Women -- hopped aboard the USS Alabama Friday evening.
Competing for scholarship money -- the 67th DYW National Annual Finals has many of them in the Port City for the first time. “So excited to be here -- it’s such a beautiful city! The other night -- me and my host family went to Dauphin’s. And being able to see the landscape and sky view of the whole city was so cool,” said Katie Fourtner, DYW Missouri.
And I got to see some of those natural talents -- in action -- a group of the girls serenaded me with Dolly Parton’s fan favorite “Jolene” -- and I can tell you -- they sounded amazing!
