Bruno Guimaraes looked in serious discomfort after suffering an ankle injury NUFC
Bruno Guimaraes was in tears as he walked off the pitch at half-time after suffering an injuryThe Brazilian star was in the wars during the opening 45 minutes with Fulham at St James’ Park after receiving physio treatment on an ankle injury picked up during a challenge with João Palhinha.AdvertisementThe Brazilian played on, but went down again later in the half with the medical team seen putting a significant amount of strapping around his ankle to protect it.
However, Guimaraes looked in significant discomfort during the final stages of the first half, but managed to make it to the whistle.But with the 25-year-old hobbling off the field with Joelinton at the break, the midfielder was seen in tears as he battled the pain on his way to the dressing room. That was the last glimpse that Newcastle fans would get of their star man against Marco Silva’s side, with him being replaced by Allan Saint-Maximin at the start of the second half.
It remains to be seen how severe that ankle injury is, but given the discomfort that the Brazilian was in it certainly doesn’t look good.
“He’s very upset and we’re obviously concerned for him and we hope it’s not too serious, but at this time we don’t know.”
