A video shared to social media has showed the final moment of a group of friends speeding down a narrow dirt road, with one asking a fateful question before it was found hours later smashed into a tree.
Emergency services were called to Bochara, about 300 kilometres west of Melbourne, on Saturday where they found a Toyota sedan mangled after crashing into a tree.
A 16-second video shared to Snapchat hours earlier showed the Toyota speeding down a dark dirt road in the early hours of Saturday morning. Asst Comm Weir argued that drivers were acting “arrogant” on the road, leading to “dumb decisions” and “high level risk” that pushed road fatalities through the roof.
"Lucas was a much-loved member of our family and his loss will be felt deeply across the entire community," a statement from the family read.
