Divorce-celebrating racing fan David Chillery gets a taste of his own medicine after ex-wife sponsors a race on the sand at Wolves
HELL hath no fury like a woman scorned... or on the receiving end of a cheeky race name.
Racing fan David Chillery, who attracted plenty of attention for sponsoring a jumps race celebrating his divorce, has been given a taste of his own medicine by his ex.The 75-year-old bus driver annually sponsors a contest at Newton Abbot in June to toast the split from his second wife Jean. This year, 'his' race at the Devon track carried the moniker 'David Chillery Continues Celebrating His Divorce Novices' Handicap Chase'.
But Chillery's ex-wife has sensationally hit back with her own eye-catching race sponsorship in the 7.50 at Wolverhampton on Monday. Jean has named the two-year-old race on the card 'Celebrating 22 Years Without David Chillery EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes'.
