The Department of National Defense has backed the proposal of senators to have a visiting forces agreement between the Philippines and Japan to further strengthen defense cooperation. READ:

Faustino said that the country shares common interest with Japan, particularly with the West Philippine Sea and the maritime border between two countries.To date, only the United States and Australia have a VFA with the Philippines.
