As the country commemorates Andres Bonifacio’s 159th birthday, the Department of Defense stressed the need to embody his “fervor, integrity, and excellence” in facing current threats to peace. | zacariansINQ
According to Faustino, Bonifacio’s “unmatched patriotism” continues to inspire Filipinos — from his time to succeeding generations — to fight for the country’s security and peace.
The chairman of the defense department also recalled Bonifacio’s bravery, as well as his own penned Katipunan Decalogue or the Duties of the Sons of the People which guided the revolution in their struggle to liberate the nation from colonial rule. “For him, the height of honor and happiness of a person is to make the ultimate sacrifice for the good and salvation of one’s country,” said Faustino.
“Let us continue to work together for the continued betterment of our nation. Mahalin natin ang ating bayan, gaya ng pagmamahal na isinabuhay ni Gat Andres Bonifacio ,” he added.
