One other thing I’m really interested in is how we kind of draw lines in the sand between species and groups of life. One thing I was really intrigued by in writing about plants was how those categories all start to falter. Like, I learned about this sea slug that I’m now obsessed with called—this brilliant-green sea slug; that’s literally what it’s called—and it eats—its first meals are chloroplasts from algae, and it’s shaped like a leaf.
