Megan Gillett is determined to 'find the joy in the day to day' after her daughter was given a rare diagnosis
Nellie Gillett, three, was a "healthy" young girl but mum Megan soon noticed something wasn't quite right. Nellie started to squint and was unable to walk when Megan took her to the doctors in May 2022.
The 35-year-old and her partner Tom Oakshot, 39, have since been making memories with their daughter including going to Peppa Pig parties, festivals and family holidays with Nellie's younger brother Ozzy. Nellie was aged just one when her parents noticed her unusual symptoms, as Megan initially thought she would have cerebral palsy. Megan was told Nellie would need to go into hospice care for the foreseeable future.
"We don’t want to be sad when she’s gone, that’s when we can be sad. She’s still here and can smile. There’s lots of other things to do such as swimming, animal handling, music days, race cars and play groups.
