A doctor saved a passenger’s life on two separate occasions while 40,000ft in the air on a long-haul flight to India.when a 43-year-old man collapsed in the aisle and went into cardiac arrest.

Cabin crew on the Air India flight frantically called for medical help and Dr Vemala sprang into action. He immediately attempted to resuscitate the passenger who did not have a pulse and was not breathing.‘Luckily, they had an emergency kit, which to my utter surprise, included resuscitative medication to enable life support.’However, the liver specialist, who works at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, managed to source several items from other passengers, including a heart-rate monitor, pulse oximeter, glucose meter and blood pressure machine.
