Medical professionals are urging Brits to be aware of lesser-known symptoms, as well as the more common indicators of type-1 and type-2 diabetes in light of World Diabetes Day
Diabetes, a common health issue in the UK, affects around 8 per cent of the population with type-1 and a staggering 90% with type-2. This condition leads to elevated blood sugar levels, prompting healthcare experts to recommend seeing a GP if primary symptoms are noticed.
She outlined: "Here are some signs that your body is headed towards diabetes. If you start to see hyperpigmented velvet-like patches on your skin called acanthosis nigricans. If you find yourself having more of these flesh like coloured growths called skin tags." She wrapped up her advice by saying: "Two-type diabetes occurs due to lifestyle choices such as poor diet, low exercise and obesity. So your body becomes resistant to insulin and your blood sugar levels spike, leading to health issues down the line."
