Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani gets day named after him by L.A. City Council

City officials declare May 17 as Shohei Ohtani Day in honor of AAPI Month and Ohtani’s jersey number.

The councilmembers – many of whom wore blue in honor of the Dodgers – took turns praising the baseball player. Councilmember Nithya Raman, who is South Asian, echoed similar sentiments, noting that her son is a huge fan of Ohtani’s.
