(UPDATE) AT least 12 Luzon provinces were under Storm Signal No. 1 after Tropical Depression 'Dodong' made landfall Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In a press briefing Friday led by Officer in Charge Esperanza Cayanan, Pagasa said Signal No. 1 was still up in Isabela, Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and the northern portion of Pangasinan .EMPTY NETS Fishermen gather their nets in Navotas on Friday, July 14, 2023, as they wait for calmer waters before heading out to fish in Manila Bay.
These areas are expected to experience heavy rainfall and possible flooding as Dodong enhances the 'habagat' or southwest monsoon.The storm alert has been lifted in the provinces of Aurora, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya, Pagasa said.Weather forecaster Veronica Torres said Dodong's center was estimated to be in the vicinity of Allacapan, Cagayan, moving north-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour .The tropical depression was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph gusting to 55 kph.
