The Staffie-mastiff cross and an XL-Bully-cross were running free in Wollaton
A staffie-mastiff crossbreed bit a man whose family had gone to help the dog’s owner after they saw him lying face down on the floor. Nottingham Magistrates’ Court heard how two-year-old Titan “jumped up” and sank his teeth into the victim’s stomach while a second dog, an XL Bully-cross also belonging to Liam Wilkinson, was running around off its lead in Wollaton .
Majid Awan, prosecuting, said the incident took place on October 15 in Wollaton Road. He said the police were alerted by “several calls from several people” that the two dogs - Titan and Armani - were off their leads and “nobody was in control” of them. The prosecutor said both dogs were seized and taken from the defendant and while Armani was returned to him around a month later, Titan has been in kennels since at a cost of £7,520.70. Wilkinson, of Softwood Mews, Wollaton, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to a single charge of being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control and caused injury to a person.
“The ambulance staff came to the address and left the door open and Armani was able to escape. Because she was in heat, Titan followed her onto the street. When Mr Wilkinson had been treated he then went to search for them and ran for a good five-to-ten minutes.
