According to a baby name consultant, 'pet names' are becoming popular baby name choices for new parents as they opt for more casual monikers for their little ones
Forget unique spellings - there's a fresh baby name trend in town for 2025. Colleen Slagen, known as namingbebe on TikTok, is a renowned baby name consultant who is currently penning a baby name book and has opened up about the new trend.
She added that this generation of parents doesn't feel the pressure to select their child's name based on how it might look on a CV or if it passes the "CEO test." In the video Colleen began by saying "one of the most common name insults I see in comments and DMs is 'that's a dog name guys.'" But according to her, that's not the insult people think it is, reports the Express US.
Some of the names that fell into these categories included: Charlie, Daisy, Sadie, and Archie as "cutesy" names; Leo, Max, Chloe and Luna for "short and sweet" names ; Bear, Banjo and Blue for "true dog" names; and Cooper, Maverick, and Duke for "cool edgy names."
