Nigel Staines was a manager at Procter and Gamble in London, until the motorway accident made him rethink his career and find solace in dog training . He had been representing Great Britain at a 2008 event. Although the trainer did not suffer serious physical injuries, he developed severe PTSD following the crash.

Dog training later 'gave him something to focus on', which he then turned into a run of record Crufts successes with three generations of pets. Nigel, who is based in Warton, is heading back to the world-famous competition at Birmingham NEC later this year, hoping to add to his record-breaking streak - which he owes to an Australian working kelpie named Zico Senior.
