The Department of Health said Sunday it recorded an additional case of fireworks-related injury from December 24 to 25, bringing the total number to five.

The Department of Health said Sunday it recorded an additional case of fireworks-related injury from December 24 to 25, bringing the total number to five.

The DOH said the total number of fireworks-related injuries logged since December 21 was 50% lower than the 10 cases reported during the same period in 2021. The one new case of fireworks-related injury was based on information from 61 DOH sentinel hospitals. DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire earlier said that should one get injured due to fireworks, the victim should clean the affected area with running water and cover it with gauze or clean cloth before heading to a health facility.

The Health department also encouraged the public to welcome 2023 safely by avoiding the use of firecrackers. The agency instead recommended banging of pans and drums; using glow sticks; and blasting loud music.overweight ;fuse should not burn less than three seconds but not more than six seconds;—KG, GMA Integrated News
