THE Department of Justice has dismissed the murder charges filed against 17 officers and personnel of the Philippine National Police Rizal and Laguna for their involvement in the 'Bloody Sunday' killing of labor leader Emmanuel 'Manny' Asuncion in Cavite on March 6, 2021 due to lack of probable cause.
It said bullet trajectories are consistent with respondents' claim that Asuncion supposedly fired at them from the 2nd floor.DoJ prosecutors also said that even assuming the respondent-police shot Asuncion, they were in 'lawful fulfillment of their duty.''We lament the demise of Emmanuel Asuncion.
