The Department of Justice on Friday said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with a non-government organization based in Germany which seeks to modernize the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.According to the DOJ , Justice Undersecretary Jesse Hermogenes Andres represented the agency while the Hanns Seidel Foundation was represented by its Resident Rep. Alexander Birle.
The MOU also seeks to strengthen the collaboration of the Philippines’ prosecution arm with law enforcement agencies.The DOJ said the MOU renewed a previous partnership between the DOJ and the HSF for a series of dialogues in Northern Mindanao.Also present during the signing were Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento, Undersecretary Raul Vasquez, HSF Program Coordinator Caroline Lee, and several prosecutors.
