Volunteers from Hoylake RNLI say it was a treat to see the pod of dolphins riding the waves.
A pod of dolphins has been spotted by an RNLI crew who were doing a training exercise in Liverpool bay with the curious cetaceans seen "playing" alongside the boat.
The Wirral-based crew were training near the Burbo Bank Wind Farm when the pod began swimming alongside their Shannon class lifeboat. "The Hoylake RNLI crew were thrilled to spot the dolphins swimming and feeding in the region's waters, as it's not a sight they see routinely through training or rescues, the RNLI said.
