Queensland Maroons legend Steve Renouf has backed Broncos halfback Adam Reynolds for a shock return to the State of Origin fold, as talks of extending the 32-year-old’s tenure at the club begin.

Reynolds has orchestrated a remarkable Brisbane resurgence since arriving at Red Hill last year, taking the powerhouse outfit from 14th in 2021 prior to his signing to NRL title contenders.NSW maestro Nathan Cleary has been ruled out of the Blues’ must-win Game II clash at Suncorp Stadium with a hamstring tear.His link with his former South Sydney Rabbitohs teammates Cody Walker – who has emerged as a contender for five-eighth Jarome Luai’s jersey – and Latrell Mitchell adds to his case.
