Donald Glover has claimed that he and the writers of Atlanta were racially harassed on their first night in London while filming season 3.
While speaking at the Television Critics Association’s virtual winter press conference, Stephen Glover – Donald’s brother and his co-writer on the comedy-drama – explained that on their first evening in the English capital, they experienced a shocking incident while standing outside of a closed bar near where they were living.
‘Mind you, all of the writers on Atlanta are Black. So, he’s making a reference that we all have hammers, and we can just break into this place, which we kind of ignored,’ the Atlanta executive producer stated.Fellow co-writer Stefani Robinson remarked that it took them a short while to realise the firearm reference.
‘He got to a point of like if the insinuation was lost on us, he got specific and he was like, “You guys are Black, you’ve gone to jail and you do things like that.” Like he kept doubling down on it,’ he outlined.
