The president was subjected to a torrent of hostility as the crowd heckled his motorcade. Several onlookers brandished placards voicing their contempt for the"Put them gas prices down!
" one attendee can be heard shouting before directing an expletive at Trump. "F--- Trump, but we came here for the Knicks! " another can be heard calling out. Those gathered around them can be heard chanting, "F--- Trump, go Knicks!
"According to Jeff Mordock, a Washington Times correspondent in Trump's press pool, one placard read, "Nobody wants you here. " Another stated, "Trump must go. " Yet another declared, "Impeach. Convict.
Remove.
" Security arrangements ahead of Trump's appearance at the legendary Manhattan arena, home to the New York Knickerbockers - more commonly known as the Knicks - had already left basketball fans and New Yorkers feeling deeply unsettled. Secret Service operatives were spotted checking supporters as they made their way into the stadium, reportsthat fans would be banned from bringing bags into the arena, even those meeting its usual requirements, due to the president's planned attendance.
Outside the venue, officers were seen guiding crowds into cordoned-off queues, which extended significantly before tip-off. Footage showed supporters queuing for more than an hour to get inside, where they then faced additional security checks from the Secret Service. Video filmed from the adjacent waterfront showed large military helicopters stationed on platforms near the shore, with smaller aircraft hovering overhead, monitoring for possible threats.
Trump announced he would attend Game 3 of the Finals, which sees the Knicks welcome the San Antonio Spurs for their first home match of the best-of-seven series.
