Former President Donald Trump was escorted from the stage following the sounds of apparent gunfire at his Pennsylvania rally.
The former president had just begun his Western Pennsylvania when the sound of apparent shots caused Secret Service agents to dive on him to cover.

The presumptive Republican nominee for president ducked behind the podium shortly into his speech amid a loud popping noise and as someone from the crowd screamed, “Get down.”Trump was rushed off stage, shortly after, to an awaiting armored SUV. He appeared to have sustained a slight wound to his right ear, but pumped his fist in the air as he left.“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” it read.
The rally, Trump’s first this year in a Pennsylvania county he won in 2020, comes just two days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and ahead of his expected vice presidential nominee announcement.He ducked behind the podium shortly into his speech amid a loud popping noise and as someone from the crowd screamed get down.Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said shortly before 7 p.m. that he’d been briefed on the situation in Butler, about 42 miles from Pittsburgh.
“Violence targeted at any political party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable,” Shapiro said. “It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States.”
