Donald Trump has asked an appeal court to stop his sentencing in the Stormy Daniels case and said that it 'could lead to incarceration or other unacceptable liberty restrictions being imposed on the leading candidate in the forthcoming Presidential election.'Trump is asking the federal appeal court in New York to stay sentencing until it can hear legal arguments in full on whether the case should be moved to federal court.
In the filing to the federal appeals court, Trump's lawyer, Emil Bove, wrote that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg 'gives short shrift to the irreparable harm that would result' if sentencing is allowed to take place without a stay, 'as if this appeal does not exist and there is no prospect of future federal litigation.''This is another argument that defies reality, and it would render the Supremacy Clause a dead letter,' Bove added.
