The US president posted saying the teenage activist ‘seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future’ alongside footage of her UN address in which she is visibly upset.
In the 16-year-old’s speech on Monday, she told politicians they had ‘stolen her childhood’ with their ’empty words’ on climate change.Saying that she should be in school rather than standing in front of them, she asked: ‘How dare you?’ In a tweet to his 64.7 million followers, Trump wrote: ‘She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!’The US leader, who doesn’t believe in climate change, spent only a few minutes at the summit before leaving to hold his own ‘global call to protect religious freedom’ at a separate venue.
