Security staff surrounded the former president as he was rushed off stage on Saturday, July 13, the BBC reports. Footage shared by reporters on X, formerly Twitter, appeared to show blood on his face as he raised his fist in the air.
Trump was taken to a waiting vehicle and driven away from the scene. The BBC reported that armed police took to the podium soon after. Trump had been addressing his supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania ahead of November's presidential election. The US Secret Service said Trump was now "safe" and that it had implemented protective measures around the former president, Sky News reported.
