Donald Trump may have gotten himself into trouble after he made public comments about the jury, as he may still be subject to a gag order.The former president, who was convicted on May 30 of 34 counts of falsifying business records, told Newsmax that no one in the jury smiled during his trial in New York.On a call with the conservative news outlet, Trump said: 'Mother Teresa couldn't get a fair trial here—I've said that. I never saw a glimmer of a smile from the jury.
I'm not allowed to use his name because of the gag order.'In a letter made public on Tuesday, Trump's lawyers wrote to Merchan and asked him to lift the order now that the trial was over.They said there was nothing to justify 'continued restrictions on the First Amendment rights of President Trump' and argued that he was entitled to 'unrestrained campaign advocacy.
