Paul Mason was a trustee at Lyme Regis Museum, which created the tribute to their 'dear friend'.

By Curtis LancasterA museum will unveil a memorial garden for a "dear trustee and friend" who was killed in a drunken attack.

Paul Mason, 52, of Qatar National Bank, suffered serious head injuries following an assault in London on the evening of 15 December 2020,jailed for his manslaughter.Paul's sister Rachel Mason said the attack "was such a horrific thing to happen to such kind and gentle person"."Since childhood we went to Lyme Regis and he always had a passion for the area.

"He had a job which took him all around the world but he always made time to come back to Lyme Regis."The centrepiece for the garden will be a memorial bench created by west Dorset-based designer Petter Southall. Electrician Steven Allan was jailed for three years and nine months in April, after attacking Mr Mason in the mistaken belief he had stolen a mobile phone.

He was cleared of the more serious offence of murder following a trial, and the case prompted Mr Mason's family to call for a review of sentencing guidelines.
