A decluttering expert has shared a simple trick to speed up indoor drying times during the winter months.

As we approach the peak of winter, drying clothes indoors becomes a challenging task for many in Britain. With reduced daylight hours and persistent damp conditions, the convenience of summertime line drying diminishes. However, a savvy decluttering expert has shared an effective tip that can significantly shorten indoor drying times.

Nicola Lewis, a decluttering and cleaning enthusiast with a following of nearly 200,000 on her Instagram handle @thisgirlcanorganise, revealed a 'secret' washing machine function in her latest Instagram video titled 'How to dry your clothes indoors,' which could have your clothes ready to wear much faster. In the video, Nicola promotes a clever laundry hack: utilize the 'Drum/Spin' feature not once, but twice. Her now-trending motto, 'Double Spin for the Win,' is gaining traction among her followers. She explains that after washing, running an additional spin cycle with the clothes still inside, without any extra water, will leave them noticeably less damp upon removal. This added spin cycle extracts further moisture, thereby reducing the total time required for clothes to dry. The video caption provides the advice: 'Double spin your laundry! Your clothes will come out much drier, allowing them to dry quicker. Always give your clothes a quick shake before hanging to dry to remove any creases,' reports the Express. But Nicola's insights extend beyond just the washing machine. Nicola has shared her top tips for drying clothes indoors in an energy-efficient manner. She suggests using an airer combined with a dehumidifier to accelerate the drying process without resorting to cranking up the central heating. 'A dehumidifier will draw moisture from the air and dry your clothes quicker,' she explained. For those without a dehumidifier, Nicola recommends positioning the airer in natural light and ensuring a window is open to promote ventilation
