Horrific footage circulating on social media which showed the brutal execution of a Russian soldier by his own army has been called into question after the same man appeared in a new clip.
The footage circulating on social media appeared to show soldier Dmitry Yakushchenko being savagely murdered for escaping to Ukraine just four days after he joined Russian mercenary army the Wagner Group.
The first video, shared on Monday, showed the 44-year-old soldier admitting to defecting from the Russian army before being returned by Ukrainian forces in a prisoner swap.The brutal video of the “trial of a traitor” was then released to the same channel. He said that Wagner had given him the opportunity to “correct” his mistake, and alleged he provided information in exchange for his life.
