Number 10 blames human error for the mistake - as the prime minister says Salisbury is 'emerging from the shadow' of the incident.

Bath's Liberal Democrat MP Wera Hobhouse said:"Whilst it's always lovely to see a beautiful shot of Bath, I think No 10 may have got carried away with this time.The Bath MP until 2017, Ben Howlett, told Sky News it was"pretty bad timing and I bet the person at Number 10 is highly embarrassed for their mistake".

The picture used is in the Michelin Travel Guide for Wiltshire, which lists the shot as being from Salisbury.The prime minister visited two shops close to the cathedral and greeted members of the public on the high street, alongside MP John Glen. Mrs May said the anniversary was an"important milestone" as the city"emerges from the shadow cast by the use of chemical weapons on the streets of our country".

She also thanked the emergency services and armed forces who were involved in the clean-up operation, which ended last week.Mother-of-three Dawn Sturgess died from novichok poisoning four months after the initial attack after her partner found a contaminated bottle discarded by the perpetrators. Salisbury officials hope a major advertising push will help boost visitor numbers, after it was reported in December that visitor numbers were down 12% for the time of year.More stories
